Sync control by user, not by internxt

As a user, I want full sync control on my account. To me sync should work like this : if I upload a file to my windows drive app on my desktop, I want it to sync to the cloud and also straight to my laptop. This is how it works on my nas. If I upload a file to the cloud (browser), it should upload automatically straight to my laptop and desktop.

Thanks for the detailed explanation — and yes, your expectation is completely understandable. The intended behaviour is that files synced from one device should become available across your connected devices automatically, including files uploaded from the web. From your description, it sounds like there may be a delay or issue in how syncing is propagating between devices in your setup, rather than a missing feature To help us better understand what’s happening, could you clarify: - Whether the files eventually appear on the other devices or never sync at all - Whether this affects files uploaded through the desktop app, the web app, or both - If the issue happens consistently or only sometimes This will help us determine whether there’s a sync issue we need to investigate further

internxt (jhonatan) got all my log files already. This has never been working flawless...

And if I remember well, this is by design...

So please explain why I get an answer by internxt that this is expected behavior? They say : "The desktop app does not automatically download new files from the cloud to your Internxt Drive when they are created by another device or by a tool like rclone." I don't want to see placeholders, I want the real files!

So just make sync straight forward and give control by the user. If the user want's sync straight to all devices, let him. If he or she wants one way sync or something different, give them the choice (control). Like this, it's failure by design.

We understand the type of sync behaviour you’re looking for. At the moment, Internxt’s sync model is designed to support both cloud-first usage and local storage optimisation. Many users specifically request placeholder-based syncing to avoid automatically downloading everything across all devices and consuming local disk space. Currently, users can manually choose which files or folders should remain fully downloaded locally by marking them to stay available on the device. Files that are not explicitly kept locally may appear as placeholders until accessed. That said, we understand your point about wanting more granular sync control and a more traditional mirrored-sync experience across devices. Your feedback around configurable sync behaviour has been noted and shared internally with the team.

At least give the user the option. On my desktop, my folder is set to keep files locally. So whenever I upload from my nas to internxt cloud, it should get straight to my desktop folder. That's how sync should work. When my folder was set to keep files only in the cloud, it would make sense.

If the folder is already configured to stay available offline, then newly synced files should indeed download automatically to the device. From what you’re describing, this sounds less like the intended sync model and more like the sync state may not be updating correctly in your setup. Since you mentioned logs were already shared previously, I’ll ask you to send new logs to hello@internxt.com and will make sure the team reviews particularly folders marked as “available offline” to see why they are not being automatically downloaded when adding new content to your cloud.
