Enable rclone / CLI support for Internxt free tier (1 GB)
I'm writing to give honest feedback about your free tier policy regarding CLI access and Rclone support.I maintain a personal multi‑cloud synchronization script that currently works flawlessly with 18 different cloud providers – all offering a genuinely free tier. Your service is the only one out of 19 that fails, solely because you block rclone / CLI access behind a paywall.Your free tier offers 1 GB of storage, which is essentially what a free email provider gives. In today’s free cloud storage market, 1 GB with Rclone support is normal, expected, and reasonable. Placing CLI access behind a paywall while almost every competitor (including FileLu, Drime, ImageKit, PikPak, Filen, Koofr, Backblaze, pCloud, OpenDrive, Jottacloud, Mega, Proton Drive, Oracle Cloud, Box, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, Cloudflare) provides it for free sends a clear red flag to the community. This is not a request for charity or an exception. It is straightforward market feedback: you cannot put a standard, baseline feature behind a paywall and expect to be taken seriously. If you are concerned about abuse or server load, implement rate limiting or API quotas on the free tier – that is what responsible providers do. Completely blocking CLI / rclone support makes Internxt look like a money‑grabbing operation, not a genuine cloud storage service. The message you are sending to technical users is: “If you want to automate anything, pay up.” That is a losing strategy in a market where free, scriptable alternatives are abundant.I strongly urge you to reconsider. Enable full rclone support (read/write/sync) for all tiers, including the free 1 GB plan. Just think of the publicity such a move would bring! The viral videos and everything. You're welcome.

First, thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. I think it's worth highlighting that most of the services you're comparing Internxt against are traditional cloud storage providers. Our infrastructure and product decisions are heavily influenced by end-to-end encryption, which introduces different technical and operational constraints than services where the provider has access to the data. While it's true that some providers offer API, CLI or rclone access on their free tiers, many of them are not offering the same privacy model. Comparisons are therefore not always one-to-one. That said, your suggestion is a reasonable one, and we've noted it internally. We continuously review how features are distributed across plans, especially as the product evolves. Thanks again for taking the time to share your perspective.
